Game Recap: Volleyball Falls to DII Monroe
The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs volleyball team hosted the Divison II Monroe College Mustangs from New York State last night.
The match ended in a 4 set loss to the Mustangs after a lineup change due to an injury.
"Our girls did a great job rising to the occasion, when presented with a new lineup that we had not practiced," said Mustangs Head Coach Misti Volpe. "Although the match ended in a loss for us, the girls really came together on the court as a whole."
Game scores were 15-25, 26-24, 11-25, and 16-25.
Freshman Kendall Gazzo lead the team offensively for the evening collecting 5 kills from the middle. She was followed closely by sophomore Briana Rodriguez and freshman Alex Griffin, who each added 4 kills. Sophomore Nikki Reichert collected 13 assists for the evening and 5 aces.
"Nikki did a great job of spreading Monroe's reception pattern and finding the holes for her aces" said coach Volpe.
Defensively the team rose to the occasion against some of the best offense they've faced this season. As a whole the team collected 43 digs; 9 from Griffin, 8 from freshman Liz Herezi and 8 from Reichert.
Next the Mustangs will travel to PSU: Abington Wednesday Oct 3rd, to compete in Abington's Breast Cancer Awareness match.
