Mustangs Win NJCAA DIII Region 19 Championship
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs captured the 2011 Region XIX Division III volleyball championship with a convincing 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-22) victory over Passaic County Community College on Saturday afternoon at Northampton Community College.
The no. 1 seeded Mustangs advanced to the title game with a 3-0 victory over Bergen Community College in the day's first semifinal, while Passaic upset 2nd seeded Northampton, 3-2, in the other semi.
Mel Angelucci of Montgomery was the tournament MVP, she was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Jackie Cruz (Bergen), Kelly Yagerhofer (Northampton), Shaila Camilo (Passaic), Kayla Cannon (Passaic) and Brianna Musselman (Montgomery).
Montgomery will now host the District H championship on Saturday October 29th vs. the Region 10 champion, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA national tournament.
