Women's Volleyball Sweeps Trojans
Wayne, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs and the Valley Forge Military College Trojans, both first year volleyball programs, battled it out on Oct. 4, 2010.
The Mustangs walked away with a sweep, winning the match in three with scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-11.
Steph Angelucci led in assists with 10 while Mel Angelucci followed with six. the Mustangs tallied 33 aces, 11 of which were served by Emily Mayer.
Mayer was proud of her team's efforts. "In this match we did a great job of switching positions and running the plays we've been working on. It really shows the versatility of the team and our drive to play."
Mandy Slook notched seven of the team's aces as well. Mayer and Samantha Reeves led the Mustangs in kills with seven each and Corey Trego notched three.
Head Coach Misti Volpe said of the performance, "The girls came out mentally strong in this match and ran our offense the right way. I was excited to see them take momentum and set the tone right away."
