Women's Volleyball Sweeps Philadelphia in Dig for the Cure Event

Blue Bell, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women’s volleyball team swept the Community College of Philadelphia Colonials on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

In three sets the Mustangs dominated, 25-9, 25-12 and 25-13.

Sharnae Johnson and Corey Trego led the team in kills with five each. Trego had 15 assists, while Steph Angelucci had 12. Both Angelucci and Trego also led the team in aces with eight and seven respectively. The team totaled 29 aces during the competition.

The match was a great one to win for the Mustangs, who sponsored a “Dig for the Cure” promotion that evening. Donning pink headbands and shoelaces, the girls raised over \$250 for breast cancer research.

“It was a joy to watch the girls come together on and off the court,” said Head Coach Misti Volpe. “They were ecstatic to work together raising funds to fight breast cancer. The team spirit was infections and overall, the girls did a great job finishing their games.”

Next the Mustangs will compete in a tri-match with Harrisburg Area Community College and Delaware County Community College on Saturday, Sept. 25.
