Women's Volleyball Ready for its First Intercollegiate Season

Blue Bell, Pa. � The fall of 2010 will mark the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs� first season of intercollegiate play in women�s volleyball. The Mustangs will compete against six teams in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (EPCC).

With a roster packed full of experienced and talented players from across Montgomery County, the Mustangs volleyball team�s first season is shaping up to be a solid one. Setters Steph Angelucci (Methacton), named Suburban 1 All-League two years in a row and Corey Trego (Spring-Ford), named All League Honorable Mention senior year, will run the helm of the program feeding a strong offense. Brianna Musselman (Archbishop Carroll), named All-Catholic Honorable Mention senior year and Emily Mayer (Faith Christian), named Most Valuable Player three years in a row, will lead the charge offensively in the middle.

The outside and opposite attack will not be taken lightly. Jalene Kicinski, a two year MVP from Calvary Baptist School will join teammates Danielle Timbario (Spring-Ford) and Danielle Metzger (Bishop McDevitt) to provide solid hitting options. The team�s defense will be anchored by two-year Suburban 1 All League award winner Mel Angelucci (Methacton), joined by Amanda Slook (Souderton) and Bethany Murray (Methacton).

The team will be led by coaches Misti Volpe and Lauren Bohling, who have a combined 35 years of volleyball experience between them. Coach Volpe is a native of Montgomery County, having played for Calvary Baptist School (Lansdale, Pa.) and NCAA Division III Eastern University (St. Davids, Pa.). Coach Bohling is a transplant from San Antonio, Tx. where she competed at NCAA Division II University of Texas � Brownsville.

The Mustangs volleyball team�s first intercollegiate match in history will take place on home court against Lehigh Carbon Community College on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 7:00 p.m.
