Women’s Basketball

Mustangs: Remi, how long have you been playing basketball and why do you love it so much?

Gerwitz: Well, I’m 19 now and I’ve been playing basketball pretty much since I could walk. Being an athlete is an amazing experience. I feel like I can always connect with other people when I’m part of a team.

Mustangs: Tell me about your time as a basketball player for the Mustangs. What was your biggest accomplishment and what made you so successful?

Gerwitz: I would say my biggest accomplishment was being a triple athlete for the Mustangs. I enjoy playing any type of sport so in addition to playing basketball, I also played soccer and softball. Playing three sports demanded that I try my best in the classroom. Being able to maintain my grades so that I could participate in intercollegiate athletics was a big part of being successful as a student-athlete.

Mustangs: Where will you be going in the fall and how did you choose your transfer institution?

Gerwitz: I chose to attend Arcadia University in the fall, where I will be majoring in Health Administration and getting my Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. I chose to transfer to Arcadia because it was an opportunity to continue playing the game I love and I know I will be getting an excellent education there too.

Mustangs: Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Gerwitz: In five years I plan to have my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I want to have a steady physical therapy job and be able to support myself.

Mustangs: Who has been your greatest inspiration?

Gerwitz: My parents have been and always will be my greatest inspiration. They have shown me that if you work hard, you can do whatever you want. If it wasn’t for them I would not have accomplished any of the goals I have pursued so far, and I wouldn’t have the courage to pursue the goals I have for the future.

Mustangs: What is a quote or motto that you try to live by?

Gerwitz: “Life is too short to be anything but happy. Love deeply, forgive quickly, take chances, give everything with no regrets and forget the past with exception of what you have learned. Remember, everything happens for a reason.”
