Ocean Sails Past Mustangs
Blue Bell, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women's basketball team lost 53-61 to the Ocean County College Vikings.
The Mustangs opened the scoring but the Vikings took and held an early lead. The Mustangs tied it up 25-25 with a foul shot from Brianna Musselman at 5:54. At the opposite end of the court Alyssa Butcher rebounded a missed shot and fed the ball to Kristin Butler, who was able to put her team ahead on a layup. The lead was short lived as the Vikings tied it up and the half ended in a 30-30 tie.
In the second half the Mustangs broke the tie to take a 32-30 lead in the first minute of play. The Vikings challenge the Mustangs a number of times until finally snagging the lead back at 15:30. For the following ten minutes a 2-point lead bounced back and forth between the teams.
By the 8:00 mark the Vikings took position and built a 51-44 advantage. The Mustangs fought to make a comeback but the Vikings walked away with a 61-53 victory.
The top performer for the Mustangs was Dayna McCrewell with 19 points, nine rebounds, four steals and four assists. Alyssa Butcher tallied 11 points, nine rebounds and three blocks, while Kristin Butler earned 10 points and Brianna Musselman earned nine.
