Women's Basketball Defeats Cumberland
Blue Bell, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs hosted the Dukes of Cumberland County College on Tuesday Jan. 31.
The Dukes scored first in the 5:00 p.m. match-up but the Mustangs quickly regained the lead. The home team continued to build momentum throughout the first half, dominating the majority of play. By half time, the Mustangs were able to secure a 39-16 advantage.
In the second half the Mustangs slowed their game, allowing the Dukes to keep pace. The Mustangs controlled the half keeping the Dukes at about a 20-point distance. The game ended in a 61-47 victory for the Mustangs.
Top performers for the Mustangs were Brianna Musselman with 18 points and three steals, Alyssa Butcher with 14 points and five assists and Remi Gerwitz with 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.
Each athlete contributed to the Mustangs’ win. Highlights include six rebounds by Danielle Lillo, four assists from Amelia Stockman, four points, two rebounds and two steals by Jennifer Mastantoni, two rebounds and two steals form Dayna McCrewell and two points and two steals from Kristin Butler.
