Women's Basketball Visits Local Kindergarten

Lansdale, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women's basketball team visited Worcester Elementary School in Lansdale, Pa. January 5, 2012.

It was the second year in a row that the team took time to hold a one-day basketball clinic and reading session with kindergartners in Montgomery County.

Two classes totalling roughly 45 children from Worcester participated. Student-athletes from the Mustangs read ineractive books to the children in small groups in the school's gymnasium. After story time, the athletes ran the children through a basketball clinic, teaching skills ranging from dribbling to shooting and showcasing some more technical maneuvers.

Mustangs Head Coach Kelly Donohue believes the day is an important experience for all involved. "Reaching out to the community is one of our team goals. Having the team interact with today’s youth is a positive experience for both the kids and players."
