Bulldogs Overcome Mustangs 60-47
Blue Bell, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs women’s basketball team fell to the Bergen County Community College Bulldogs on Saturday Jan. 16, 2010.
The Bulldogs came on strong early in the game racking up a 20-7 lead over the Mustangs by the 10:00 mark of the first half. But the Mustangs responded by pulling together a tight defense, which prevented the Bulldogs from scoring again for over 7 minutes.
The Mustangs were able to narrow the gap during the Bulldogs’ dry spell but were not able to come from behind. The Bulldogs sent the Mustangs into the locker room at half time trailing by 7 at a score of 19 to 26.
In the second half the Mustangs continued to put defensive pressure on the Bulldogs, allowing them to score only 4 points in 5:00. However, the Mustangs ran out of steam as the clock ticked down and were unable to keep the Bulldogs from running away with the game.
The score at the final buzzer sent the Bulldogs home with a 60-47 win over the Mustangs. Scoring leaders for the Mustangs included Mercedes Harris (Norristown) with 21 points, Jennifer Kopsie (Plymouth Whitemarsh) with 9, and Ayana Allen (Abington) with 8.
The Mustangs are now 8-5 overall and 7-2 in the EPCC. Next, the Mustangs will travel to Bucks County Community College for a 6:00 p.m. match up against the Centurions on Tuesday Jan. 19, 2010.
