Softball Earns Two Victories Over VF Military
Blue Bell, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs earned their first two wins of the season over the Valley Forge Military College Trojans on Wednesday.
In game one the Mustangs scored early and often, ultimately winning 13-0. Julie Sjostrom was the winning pitcher, allowing for no runs or walks and giving up only six hits. The Mustangs racked up 13 hits in the effort. Brianna Antrim was 3-for-4 with two RBI's and three runs scored and Nicole Scutti was 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored. Alyssa Butcher tallied two hits and three runs scored, while Catcher Cortney Cantwell earned two hits and four RBI's. Runs were also scored by pitcher Julie Sjostrom, outfielder Brandi Clark and outfielder Taylor Morgan.
Game two featured more great offense from the Mustangs squad. The Mustangs defeated the Trojans 12-2, taking the defensive edge from pitcher Alyssa Butcher, who tallied eight strikeouts in the effort. The Mustangs racked up 16 hits against the Trojans. Brianna Antrim went 2-for-4 and Nicole Scutti went 3-for-4. Both Mustangs tallied three runs each. Butcher went 3-for-3 with three RBI's, including an inside-the-park home run in the first inning. Mariel Desimone, Cortney Cantwell, Taylor Morgan and Brandi Clark took a run apiece and Jenna Murphy and Carla Sirak each got a hit for the Mustangs.
