Men's Soccer Falls to #3 Brookdale
Lincroft, N.J. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's soccer team lost 0-2 to the nationally-ranked Brookdale Community College Jersey Blues Saturday.
Brookdale dominated the majority of the first half, maintaining possession and scoring fifteen minutes into play. Up 1-0 the Jersey Blues fought to advance their lead, but the Mustangs defense was able to hold off the assault.
In the second half, the Jersey Blues had the wind at their backs and unleashed an offensive arsenal on the Mustangs goalkeeper. The Mustangs were able to hold off their opponent until the Jersey Blues finally sunk goal number two half way through the period.
The Mustangs garnered a couple offensive opportunities of their own but were unable to come up with a mark on the scoreboard.
Mustangs Head Coach Matt Giordano said of the effort, "I feel like we can take a lot from this loss. We held our own against one of the nation's best junior college teams and we were able to play with them." Giordano now looks to the future. "This is most likely the level of play we will face in the playoffs and it is helpful to get a taste of that at this point in the season."
