Men's Soccer Falls in Double Overtime Loss

North Branch, N.J. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs lost 1-2 in double overtime to the Raritan Valley Community College Golden Lions.

The game was well played by both teams, with posession slightly favoring the Mustangs. The Mustangs were able to score first in the match when Kas Fazliu knocked in a pass from Ali Ali with ten minutes left before half time.

In the second half the Mustangs continued to pressure the Golden Lions offensively but could not score an assurance goal. The Golden Lions capitalized on an attacking surge 15 minutes into the half to tie up the game and send it into overtime.

The teams played almost two overtime periods before Raritan Valley finally put in the game winning goal with less than five minutes left in the second overtime.

"Both teams played very well," commented Mustangs Head Coach Matt Giordano. "This day was simply not ours. They scored on our cahnces and we did not. That is what happens sometimes and now we need to move on and focus on qualifying for the regional playoffs."
