Mustangs Post Overtime Win Against Skylanders
Blue Bell, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's soccer team earned its fourth win of the season Tuesday with a 2-1 victory over the Sussex County Community College Skylanders.
Kas Fazliu notched both goals for the Mustangs, scoring the first one just eight minutes into the game, off a free kick serve by Musa Ahamed. After the goal the Skylanders put on the pressure, outshooting the Mustangs 7-4 in the first half and tying up the game just before the half time break.
In the second half the Mustangs stepped on the field with more assertiveness, dominating the game and almost clinching the victory with four near chances in the offensive end. Unable to seal the deal, the teams went into overtime.
Fazliu scored three minuted into the overtime period, knocking in a pass from Diego Salinas.
Although Mustangs Head Coach Matt Giordano was looking for a resounding win over the Skylanders, he was satisfied with the outcome. "Both teams played well and had numerous scoring opportunities. The game could have gone either way and we feel fortunate to be on the right side of the result today."
