Sussex Slides by Men's Soccer
Blue Bell, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men�s soccer team lost 3-4 to the Sussex County Community College Skylanders Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010.
The Mustangs started quickly with a goal by Jay Natale four minutes into the game. But the Skylanders let them hold the lead for just over ten minutes before scoring two quick goals in the 15th and 16th minutes of competition. The rest of the half remained scoreless, sending the Mustangs into the second half at a one goal deficit.
The Skylanders came on strong after half time, scoring two more goals to bolster their lead to 4-1. Brandon Essrig started to close the gap for the Mustangs with a breakaway goal at 74:01 and Lekan King brought the game within reach with another goal at 88:34.
Down 3-4 the Mustangs looked to Natale to tie it up in the final seconds of the game as he kicked a shot past the Skylanders� keeper, only to find the post instead of the back of the net.
The Mustangs are now 1-4-1 overall and 1-4-1 NJCAA RXIX Division III. Next the Mustangs will host Bergen County College on Thursday, Sept. 23. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
