Game Recap: Montgomery County 77, Sussex County 62

Montgomery County Community College men's basketball earned a convincing 77–62 victory over Sussex County Community College on Tuesday night, using a dominant inside presence and balanced scoring attack to pull away in the second half.

After a tight first half that saw MCCC hold a slim 34–30 lead the Mustangs surged in the second half, outscoring Sussex 43–32 behind strong rebounding, aggressive defense, and efficient interior play. Montgomery controlled the paint with 50 points inside compared to just 24 from Sussex and outrebounded the Skylanders 51–37 overall, including 17 offensive boards that led to 19 second-chance points.

Kevin Addison-Anderson paced Montgomery with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in 25 minutes of play. Alantay Dawson added 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals, while Tariq Jennings recorded a strong 12-point, 10-rebound double-double. Qudire Bennett and Brandon Bush contributed 11 and 9 points, respectively, as nine different Mustangs scored in the win.

Montgomery's defense was equally impressive, holding Sussex to just 31.3% shooting from the field and 17.9% from three-point range. The Mustangs also capitalized in transition, posting 25 fast-break points and forcing 15 turnovers, converting them into 17 points on the other end.

For Sussex, Nicholas Sosa led all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. David Wallace chipped in 11 points, while Aleksa Samardzic hit four three-pointers en route to 12 points.

Montgomery County improved to 1–0 on the season with the win, showcasing strong depth and hustle on both ends of the floor.
