Mustangs Fall to Oaks
Blue Bell, Pa. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs lost 80-100 to the Division II Oaks of Salem Community College.
The Mustangs opened up the scoring but the Oaks took off with a 12-4 opening lead. The Mustangs picked up the pace and began to eat away at the eight-point gap, getting to 20-24 at the 7:00 mark.
The Mustangs continued to whittle away at the lead and eventually topped the Oaks 33-32 with just over two minutes remaining in the first. The teams battled as ownership of the game jumped back and forth. At the half time buzzer the Oaks ended up on top 39-38.
The Mustangs kept it close in the opening minutes of the second half until the Oaks busted through with a double-digit lead of 53-42 at 15:00. The Oaks were able to maintain their double digit lead, bolstering to a 15 point lead half way through the period.
Eventually the Oaks rallied a 20 point lead at 76-55 with 8:00 left in play. The Oaks were able to stay ahead of the Mustangs by at least 13 for the remainder of the foul-riddled game, ultimately winning 100-80.
Freshman Rasahn Brinkley was a standout for the Mustangs notching 28 points and 10 rebounds in the effort.
