Victory Over Trailblazers Gives Mustangs 10th Win
The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men’s basketball team earned its 10th win of the season Saturday with a 74-58 victory over the Luzerne County Community College Trailblazers.
The Mustangs took the lead early on against the Trailblazers, a reassuring sign after Wednesday night’s loss to the Williamson Free School.
Mustangs Head Coach Denny Surovec was glad to see his team back on track. “Our guys did a good job of executing early in the game. We are able to take a lot of positives from this game.”
The Mustangs’ early lead held strong throughout the first half sending the Trailblazers into the second with a 23 point deficit. Ultimately the Trailblazers could not find the momentum to catch up, securing another victory for the Mustangs.
In a total team effort five athletes scored double digit points for the Mustangs, including Michael Acquaviva (Plymouth Whitemarsh) with 14, Jeffrey Hurst (Souderton) with 13, and Adam Jones (North Penn), Colin Campana (Upper Moreland), and Tabias Thompson (PET Charter) with 10 points apiece. The Mustangs’ record is now 10-2 overall, 9-0 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (EPCC).
