Baseball Wins One, Loses One Against Ocean

Toms River, N.J. - The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs split a double header with the Ocean County Community College Vikings on Saturday, March 19, 2011.

The Mustangs took game one with a 2-0 win over the Vikings. Winning pitcher Tom Stolzer pitched seven innings, allowing only three hits and striking out eight. Mike Ferrier went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Ron Levan went 1-for-3, earning one RBI. Mark Trainor and Kyle Dougherty scored one run each, going 2-for-4 and 2-for-3 respectively.

The win was a special victory for Head Mustangs Coach Lou Lombardo, marking the coach's 500th career Mustangs win.

The Vikings were able to make a come back in the second game with a 7-0 win over the Mustangs. Losing pitcher for the Mustangs was Jim Heilman who pitched four innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs. Heilman notched one strike out in the performance. Relief pitcher Willie Schaeffer pitched two innings, allowing only one hit and earning one strike out. At bat, Ron Levan went 2-for-4, Mike Ferrier went 2-for-3 and Nate Rovenolt went 1-for-2.
