Cougars Best Mustangs by One
Schnecksville, Pa. The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's baseball team lost 9-10 to the Lehigh Carbon Community College Cougars on Tuesday, Apr. 20, 2010.
The Mustangs got off to a good offensive start early in the game, racking up a 3-1 lead by the bottom of the third inning. But the Mustangs defense was unable to keep up, committing seven infield errors and allowing eight runs in the bottom of the third. Down 3-9, the Mustangs battled to regain the lead, eventually tying the game in the top of the sixth inning. However, the Cougars pushed back and were able to get a run in before the end of the game, resulting in the win.
The Mustangs' losing pitcher was Ed Skilton (Kennedy Kendrick), who pitched six innings, issuing eight hits, ten rungs, one earned run, five walks, and one strike out. Mike Caracappa (Plymouth Whitemarsh) went 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs; Ron Levan (Pottstown) went 2-for-4 with two runs; Kristian Von Kiel (Emmaus) went 3-for-3 with three runs; Jim Heilman (AB Wood) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, John Alexander (Cheltenham) went 2-for-4 with one run and three RBIs; and Tom Brucker (Upper Dublin) went 2-for-4 with one run, a double, and two RBIs.
The Mustangs baseball team is now 15-17 overall (6-9 NJCAA Region XIX Division III). Next the team will travel to Camden County College for a 3:30 p.m. game on Wednesday, Apr. 21.
