Mustangs Defeat Bears 11-6

Collegeville, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's baseball team defeated the Ursinus College Bears JV team on Monday, Apr. 19, 2010.

The Mustangs took control of the game early on, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first. The Bears were unable to catch up, submitting to the 11-6 victory. The winning pitcher for the Mustangs was John Alexander (Cheltenham), who pitched seven innings, issuing seven hits, six runs, three earned runs, five walks, and six strikeouts. Offensive performances for the Mustangs included Mike Caracappa (Plymouth Whitemarsh), who went 3-for-5 with three runs and three stolen bases; Ron Levan (Pottstown), who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and an RBI; Kristian Von Kiel (Emmaus), who went 4-for-4 with two runs, a double, a triple, and four RBIs; Tom Brucker (Upper Dublin), who went 2-for-4 with one run; and Ed Skilton (Kennedy Kendrick), who went 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Mustangs baseball team is now 15-16 overall (6-9 NJCAA Region XIX Division III). Next the team will travel to Lehigh Carbon Community College for a 4:30 p.m. game on Tuesday, Apr. 20.
