Smith Brings in Alexander for Win Over Dragons

Blue Bell, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's baseball team beat the Drexel University Dragons 8-7 on Saturday, Apr. 17, 2010.

The Mustangs and the Dragons battled it out to wind up tied at 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs and John Alexander (Cheltenham) on second base for the Mustangs, Eric Smith (Plymouth Whitemarsh) stepped up and knocked out a double to left field. The hit brought in Alexander and secured the 8-7 win for the Mustangs.

Offensively Jim Heilman (AB Wood) had a strong showing, going 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, and a double. Smith's winning double and RBI earned him a 1-for-1 showing and Alexander went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, in addition to his game-winning run.

The Mustangs baseball team is now 12-16 overall (4-9 NJCAA Region XIX Division III). Next the team will travel to Cumberland County College for a double header on Sunday, Apr. 18 at 12:00 p.m.
