Mustangs Sweep Dukes, Earn Lombardo 1200th Victory
Vineland, N.J. The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's baseball team swept the Cumberland County College Dukes in a double header on Sunday, Apr. 18, 2010.
The Mustangs won game one 14-3, marking Coach Lou Lombardo's 1200th career victory. The winning pitcher was Jim Heilman (AB Wood), who pitched seven innings and issued five hits, three runs, two earned runs, two walks, and eight strikeouts.
On offense, Heilman went 1-for-3 with four runs and four RBIs; Will Sinnott (Phoenixville) went 3-for-5 with four runs, three walks, one home run, and one RBI; Ron Levan (Pottstown) went 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI; Kristian Von Kiel (Emmaus) went 2-for-4 with two runs, one home run, and four RBIs; and John Alexander (Cheltenham) went 2-for-2 with two walks and two RBIs.
In game two the Mustangs continued to dominate, winning 19-4 over the Dukes. The winning pitcher was Justin Risko (Pottsgrove), who pitched seven innings and issued five hits, four runs, three earned runs, one walk, and eleven strikeouts.
The Mustangs offense came through again with two runs, one home run, and two RBIs from Sinnott, who went 3-for-5; four runs, one home run, and four RBIs from Levan, who went 3-for-5; two runs, one home run, and three RBIs from Von Keil, who went 2-for-4; two runs and two RBIs from Heilman, who went 2-for-4; three runs and two RBIs from Mike Caracappa (Plymouth Whitemarsh), who went 2-for-4; and two runs, two walks, one home run, and three RBIs from Tom Brucker (Upper Dublin), who went 2-for-4.
The Mustangs baseball team is now 14-16 overall (6-9 NJCAA Region XIX Division III). Next the team will travel to Ursinus College for a game against the Bears B team on Monday, Apr. 19 at 4:00 p.m.
