Jersey Blues Take Tight Win Over Mustangs
Lincroft, N.J. � After a 14-12 win over the Brookdale Community College Jersey Blues on Monday, Apr. 5, the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men�s baseball team lost yesterday�s second match up against the Jersey Blues 0-2.
The game was tied up at 0-0 until the bottom of the fifth when the Jersey Blues scored two unearned runs. The Mustangs fought to make up ground on the Jersey Blues, boasting runners on first and second with one out in both the seventh and eighth innings. However, the Mustangs were unable to convert the men on base into runs, and the Jersey Blues ultimately won the game with a score of 2-0.
The losing pitcher for the Mustangs was \#Jim Heilman\# (AB Wood), who pitched eight innings issuing four hits, two runs, and one strike out. Relief pitcher \#Tyler Guentter\# (North Penn) pitched two-thirds an inning, dissolving a bases-loaded threat in the bottom of the eighth.
The Mustangs baseball team is now 10-15 overall (4-8 NJCAA Region XIX Division III). Next the team will host the Villanova University JV team on Wednesday, Apr. 14 at 4:00 p.m.
