Spartans Deliver Two Losses to Mustangs

Bethlehem, Pa. – The Montgomery County Community College Mustangs men's baseball team lost 1-4 and 4-10 to the Northampton Community College Spartans on Saturday, Apr. 3, 2010.

In game one, the Mustangs' losing pitcher Justin Risko (Pottsgrove) pitched his best game of the season so far. Risko pitched six innings, issuing only four hits, four earned runs, and tallying five strikeouts. However, the Mustangs offense was flat, earning only four hits in total, and was unable to push ahead of the Spartans' low run count.

In game two, the Mustangs jumped out to a 3-2 lead after two innings. However, due to a limited bullpen, Mustangs' losing pitcher John Alexander (Cheltenham) was forced to pitch more than desired. He issued 13 hits and eight earned runs. Relief pitcher Tyler Guentter (North Penn) pitched two-thirds of one inning and issued two strikeouts.

The Mustangs baseball team is now 7-12 overall (2-5 NJCAA Region XIX Division III). Next the team will host Brookdale Community College on Monday, Apr. 5 at 3:30 p.m.
