Mustangs Post 8-7 Win Over Phantoms

Media, Pa. – In their second meeting this season the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs overtook the Delaware County Community College Phantoms 8-7 on Thursday, Mar. 25, 2010.

Action came late in the five-inning game when the Mustangs scored four runs in the third and four in the fourth to lead the Phantoms 8-2 going into the last inning before the game was called due to darkness. The Phantoms gave a good effort but were unable to come from behind, as the Mustangs held on for an 8-7 victory.

The winning pitcher was Tyler Guentter (North Penn), who issued two strikeouts, allowed four hits and eight walks, and seven earned runs. Relief pitcher Ed Skilton (Kennedy-Kendrick) allowed one hit and one walk and notched one error.

Notable performances of the game included John Alexander (Cheltenham), who went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Jacob Lehotta (Souderton) who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, Ron Levan (Pottstown) with two runs, and Kristian Von Kiel (Emmaus) with a double and one RBI.

The Mustangs baseball team is now 5-8 overall (1-1 NJCAA Region XIX Division III). The team will look to improve their record to 7-8 with a double header against Middlesex County College at home on Saturday Mar. 27, 2010. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
