Mustangs Take Down Harford Owls
BLUE BELL, PA. – The Montgomery County Community College baseball team improved to 3-0 on the season taking down Harford Community College 9-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Tony Xanthopoulous took the mound to start the game for the Mustangs. He pitched the first two innings and recorded two strikeouts. In the top of the 2nd inning he got out of a jam; striking out the batter with runners on 1st and 3rd to keep the game scoreless.
In the 3rd inning George Jacobs came in and pitched. Harford would draw a walk, and get runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs before Jacobs would strikeout the next 3 batters to end the inning. In the bottom of the 3rd inning the Mustangs went on the offensive. Elias Gehman was hit by a pitch, and then stole 2nd placing him in scoring position. Mike Kelly would then draw a walk to put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Colt Narciso would clear the basepaths with a 3 run homer to put the Mustangs on the board.
In the 5th inning Trey Livingstone would come on in relief . Harford would get on base after an error by the Mustangs and would eventually have a runner on 3rd with 1 out. The Mustangs defense would come through again as Livingstone recorded two flyouts to end the inning.
In the 6th inning, Trey Livingstone retired the side with three consecutive strikeouts. In the bottom of the sixth Livingstone reached base on a passed ball. Marquise Wood entered the game and singled placing runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Mike Kelly would single to drive in Livingstone and Wood would advance to 3rd. Kelly would then steal 2nd and Wood would score on the throw placing the Mustangs up 5-0. Francisco Tavares would drive in Mike Kelly with a single to make it 6-0 after 6 innings.
In the 7th inning, Harford would get on the scoreboard with a solo homerun making it 6-1. In the next inning, Harford would continue to mount a comeback. After placing a runner on 1st base to start the inning Mason Gabel was later able to pick him off. Lance Templeton came in to relieve Gabel to close for the Mustangs with a runner on 1st but gave up a 2 run HR bringing the score to 6-3. Templeton recorded the last two outs without giving up any additional runs.
The Mustangs pulled away from the Owls in the bottom of the 8th inning. Wood drew a walk and Gehman would hit a 2 run HR to give the Mustangs a comfortable lead. Kelly would follow up with a single, steal 2nd and advance to 3rd on a passed ball. Narciso would drive in the final run for the Mustangs on a single to make it 9-3.

The Mustangs will face Middlesex County College on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in a single game. First pitch is set for 3:30 pm.
