Montgomery traveled to Manor College for their season opener on Tuesday. Head coach Rob Childs, who previously coached at Manor before joining the Mustangs, was ready for his first game as head coach.
The team performed exceptionally well in the first set, eventually taking it 25-11. Leah Wilson (FR, Upper Bucks Christian) served a great set, grabbing four aces without a single error.
The second set was a bit closer. Rebecca Godshall (FR, Souderton) and Molly McCarthy (FR, Souderton) each recorded three kills, which pushed the Mustangs forward. Laura Reeser (SO, Hatfield, PA) grabbed 4 assists and the Mustangs eventually took the set 25-15
In the third set, Montgomery built off of their already impressive performance. The team played fantastic defense, including Rebecca Godshall's 6 digs in set three alone. Ultimately, Montgomery finished the sweep and recorded their first win of the 2018 season with a 25-15 third set win.
Head coach Rob Childs begins his career with a win. "We had a gameplan and we executed it. I'm proud of the girls for learning and performing the gameplan in such a short amount of time," said the first year head coach after the game. "We served really well and we played as a team. I couldn't ask for too much more."
Volleyball is back in action on Thursday, when they travel to Community College of Philadelphia.
