The women's basketball team was looking to rebound after their tough loss to PSU Wilkes-Barre on Saturday. The 1-1 Lehigh Carbon Community College Cougars provided an excellent opportunity to rebound from that loss. So, the team traveled to Lehigh Carbon on Tuesday and attempted to grab their second road win of the season.
The Mustangs were ice cold in the first half, missing most of their shots and allowing the Cougars to build a big lead. At one point during the second quarter, the Cougars had an 18 point lead, which the Mustangs chipped into late in the half. Despite their best efforts, the Mustangs still faced an 11 point deficit at halftime.
However, the third quarter would be dominated by the Mustangs. Montgomery suddenly caught fire and began making seemingly every shot. They dropped 31 points in the third quarter and ripped the lead from the Cougars. The Mustangs never looked back, eventually finishing off the Cougars 75-59.
"We shot really well in the second half and played great defense," said Head Coach Mark McDonnell after the game. Taylor Keys (SO, Berks Catholic) continued her dominant scoring streak by contributing 31 points and grabbing yet another double-double. Constance Stine's (SO, Spring-Ford) 18 points were also a big part of the Mustangs' comeback.
Due to several cancellations in November, women's basketball will not play again until Tuesday, December 4th when they take on Harrisburg Area Community College at home. The game will tip-off at 5pm.
