Game Recap: Lacey, Somers Key As Mustangs Race Past Bucks

BLUE BELL, Pa. - Sophomore forward Bryanna Lacey scored a game-high 21 points and Alexandria Somers' posted her second straight double-double to lead the women's basketball team past Bucks County Community College, 66-38, in a Region XIX contest Tuesday evening.

It was one of those nights for the Mustangs as the team placed three players in double figures while shooting just over 43 percent from the field.

In addition to Lacey's 21-point showing, Somers scored 16 points and Tayler Nicholson added 14. Somers was a force around the glass, pulling down 11 rebounds, while Lacey grabbed 7 seven rebounds and Bria Chamberlain collected 6.

"We played well, but we are young and we still have work to do," said interim head coach Francine Roseman.

Montgomery controlled the game from the start and led by 15 at halftime, 36-21.

Bucks entered the game without the services of several players due to injuries. The Centurions were further handcuffed in the second half after one of its players fouled out.

Bucks shot 35.7 percent (15 of 42) from the field, but managed to convert 2 of 5 shots from three-point range. From the foul line, the Centurions finished the game at 75 percent (6-of-8), compared to the Mustangs' 62.5 percent (10-of-16).

Filling out the scoresheet for the Mustangs were India Williams (5 pts.), Evelyn Ogden (4 pts.), Colby Shackelford (4 pts.) and Chamberlain (4 pts.). Kim Pessoa was sidelined due to injury.

The women's team travels to Widener University in seven days for a Dec. 16 battle with Delaware County Community College. Tip-off is set for 6 pm.
