With their last two games of the season being cancelled, the softball team had an incredibly tough feat on Tuesday: ending the season against the number one in the region and nationally ranked Brookdale Community College.
The Mustangs fought dilligently, but the Jersey Blues still managed to take a big lead. The Mustangs got on the board in the fourth inning when Margaret Kraus (FR, Souderton) came home. But that would prove to be the only run scored by Montgomery in the first game, which finished at 14-1.
Unforunately, game two was more of the same. Brookdale jumped out to a big lead early, with Kraus again answering with a run, this time thanks to an RBI from Julia Kuneck (FR, John Hallahan).
Despite giving up ten runs in the first inning, the Mustangs held the Jersey blues to only five runs in the next four innings, including holding Brookdale to two scoreless innings. However, that proved to only be a moral victory, as the Jersey Blues took game two, 15-1.
Despite finishing the season 2-14, Montgomery should be proud of their softball team, who finished a complete 16-game minimum season, despite this being their first year as a varsity team since last year's club status.
