Baseball treaveled to County College of Morris on Monday to take on the Titans in a rematch. The Mustangs fell in the first game, 18-7, and were looking to get Morris back.
Montgomery scored first, with an run in the first inning, but Morris answered with two of their own. Again the Mustangs took the lead and again the Titans answered, tying the game at 3-3.
The Mustangs batted in another run, to take yet another lead. However, this time Morris answered with an explosive 5-run inning to take a commanding 8-4 lead.
With a 9-4 deficit heading into the seventh inning, the game almost seemed out of reach. However, the Mustangs grabbed one more run and then gained momentum in the 9th. Montgomery added two more runs in the ninth, before the game-tying run was at the plate. The Mustangs were just barely unable to finish the comeback, as the game tying batter was forced out at first.
Baseball takes on nationally ranked Northampton Comunnity College on Thursday. The Spartans ten-run ruled the Mustangs in their last matchup.
