After going 7-2 over their first nine games, the baseball team had found themselves back at .500 with a 7-7 record. Their incredibly difficult schedule would continue on Thursday when they traveled to Rowan College at Gloucester County to take on the NJCAA Division III #3 ranked Roadrunners.
The Roadrunners started the scoring in the first, but the Mustangs quickly answered with a run of their own from Frankie Ramirez (FR, Winter Springs). The Roadrunners jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the Mustangs could score again, this time with Ramirez batting in Matt Ahmad (SO, Pope John Paul).
Unfortunately, RCGC's great pitching would ensure that Ramirez's RBI was the only one of the game. The Roadrunners on the other hand would bring in 8 more runs before the end of the game and ultimately take the game 11-2.
The Mustangs are now 7-8 and have reached a losing record for the first time this season. Even though Montgomery has gone on a six game losing streak, fans must remember that they played two NJCAA nationally ranked teams, an NJCAA Division II team, an NCAA Division III JV team and no team below a 17-6 record during their streak.
The Mustangs will finally play a team with a losing record on Saturday when they take on Delaware County Community College at home.
