In their first game back after their successful trip to Myrtle Beach, baseball was facing another tough opponent in Middlesex County College. The Blue Colts came into the game with a 10-2 record and a lot of momentum.
Middlesex got the scoring going early with a run in the first inning and added another in the third. Good pitching from George Jacobs (FR, Abington) and Eric Boyer (FR, Upper Perkiomen) would keep the Blue Colts at bay, but only for so long. Middlesex added a late run in the eighth and suddenly the Mustangs had only two innings to overcome a 3-0 deficit.
The team wouldn't quit. They quickly rallied together and started gaining momentum. After grabbing a run early on in the eighth, Luke Deleo (SO, Pope John Paul), last week's EPAC player of the week, stepped up to the plate. He brought in two batters with a great hit. Then, he himself would score off of a wild pitch, giving the Mustangs the lead and ultimately the 4-3 victory.
Deleo would finish with 3 H, 2 RBI and 1 R on 4 AB. Jacobs pitched a great 1.50 ERA and only one earned run in the start.
Next, the Mustangs travel to Luzerne County Community College for a doubleheader against the Trailblazers on Saturday
