Special Olympics Tournament: Great Turn Out, 20 teams, 195 Athletes

Montgomery County Community College Athletics recently hosted yet another fantastic event at the new gym in the Health Science Center. Specifically, on Saturday April 1st, the Montgomery County Special Olympics Basketball Tournament was held.

There was no denying that the turn out wasn't anything short of success. With nearly 200 participating athletes and a total of 20 teams from the Montgomery County area, all the ingredients to a recipe of fun and excitement were at hand.

There were several different sets of competitions at the event. One of the games included a Skills Competition, in which the Lansdale Titans and North Penn Knights competed. These athletes were given the spotlight to really showcase their talents!!!

There was also a 3v3 match up against the North Penn Knights and Squires and the Pottstown Eagles. Seventeen of the 20 teams also particpated in 5v5 teams.

The following seventeen 5v5 teams were: 

Conshohocken AMBUCS Stars A, Stars B, Stars C, Stars D & Stars Mighty Mites.
Ambler Mayhem, Panthers & Molecules.
North Penn Knights
Abington Rockets A & Rockets C.
Pottstown Eagles
Royersford Tigers
Lansdale Titans
Quakertown Roaring Panthers, Panthers 2 & Super Panthers.

A big thanks also goes out to members of Montgomery County Community Colleges' Women's Basketball team, as they volunteered and assisted the athletes during the opening ceremonies.

Lansdale Titan, William Martin Jr. also commented, "My basketball game tournament was fantastic. There were alot of good basketball Special Olympics players out there."
